Stalled Spaces fund launched for the canal!

First, thank you!

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation about West Princes Street and St George’s Road over the last month, by coming to one of the events, having a look at the plans online, or leaving comments on Commonplace. We’re busy collecting and reading all your comments and will send a full report and project update soon!

This round of consultation is officially over now, but it’s not too late to comment on what you want to see improved in your area as part of the project. We are always looking for your thoughts and suggestions on how to improve the area for people walking and cycling – just pop your suggestions on our Commonplace Map . The project team checks in regularly to see what you’ve been saying.

Got an idea for an underused space?

While we’re here – do you want to use art, activity or an enterprise to breathe life into an underused or neglected space on the canal?

Glasgow City Council invites you to apply to the Canal Stalled Spaces and realise your ideas!

Applications are open until 5pm on Monday 21st October

Who can apply?

Creative or socially-motivated not-for profit groups which are either based in Glasgow or working in partnership with others based in the Canal area.

What spaces are eligible?

Spaces need to be within a defined area around the canal (see the map above).

Within that, eligible spaces include:

  • Stalled or underused spaces
  • The Canal waterway
  • Facades or elevations of buildings which are prominent or visible from a street or path
  • Streets, walkways or other public spaces
  • How much money is available?

Funding is available from £500 to £4,500.
