Hire an electric bike in Woodside and Woodlands!

Last week, Glasgow City Council added electric bikes (e-bikes) to the city’s extremely popular NextBike Cycle Hire Scheme .

Why hire an e-bike?

These electric bikes are just like a standard pedal cycle, but with a battery and electric motor. As you pedal, the motor kicks in to take off some of the strain.

You might find an e-bike offers the power boost you need to start cycling for everyday journeys, like going to the shops, to visit friends and family, and to work. Or maybe you’re already cycling, but would like to be able to go further or on hillier routes than feels possible on a standard bike.

How can I hire an e-bike?

The new e-bikes are available 24 / 7. They can be hired and returned to any Next Bike station across the city. Each e-bike can go over 50 miles when fully charged – and there are charging facilities at 21 hire locations if they need a top up.

There are 4 hire locations where e-bikes can be charged in Woodlands and Woodside:

1. Where Maryhill Road meets North Woodside Road, by Lidl

2. At the bottom of Park Avenue, by the Eldon Street roundabout. Handy for the University of Glasgow’s St Andrew’s building

3. Opposite the new Woodside Health Centre, on Firhill Road

4. On Garscube Road, opposite Abercorn School. Right near the canal and useful for the Conservatoire and Scottish Opera too.

You can hire an e-bike using your existing NextBike membership – no special membership needed! For more information on locations and prices, visit www.NextBike.co.uk/Glasgow

The Aye Cycle Glasgow website also has some useful information about bike hire in the city.

Psst…

Before October 31st (this Thursday!), you would be able get a deal on membership. If you’re already a member of Enterprise Car Club, you can get 50% off a NextBike membership. Or if you’re already a member of NextBike, you can get 50% off membership and £10 free driving credit! More details are on the NextBike website .
