Construction on the first phase of the Connecting Woodside project will begin in early 2020! This is a segregated cycle route on Garscube Road, from Firhill Road to the underpass at Dobbie’s Loan.
Also included in this phase is a signalised crossing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a significant remodelling of the junction of Possil Road/Garscube Road/St George’s Road to enhance the facilities for people walking and cycling.
Consultation and design updatesThanks again to everyone who took part in the consultation about West Princes Street and St George’s Road in August. We’ve been busy reading all your comments and working on the designs we showed you. The full consultation report is available on the Glasgow City Council website here [PDF download opens in new window].
Keep an eye out for more news in March – we’ll be back online and in person with updated designs to share with you.
What are we working on now?West Princes Street Quietway
We showed you our early ideas for how to make West Princes Street a comfortable and accessible walking route and a simple, obvious and safe cycling route in the Connecting Woodside network.
We’re now working up more detailed designs for West Princes Street, incorporating your comments. We’ve been out on the street mapping utility cabinets, signposts, bins and other bits of street furniture to see if we can reduce clutter for pedestrians.
St George’s Road – northern section
We showed you our early ideas for the northern section of St George’s Road, including a physically separated cycle route from Clarendon Place to the junction of Possil Road/Garscube Road/St George’s Road
We’re now working up more detailed designs for the northern section of St George’s Road, incorporating your comments to make sure this key neighbourhood street is a great place to walk and cycle.
St George’s Road – southern section
We showed our latest detailed drawings for the southern section of St George’s Road, from the junction of Maryhill Road/Phoenix Road to Charing Cross/Sauchiehall Street. This section also includes a connection to the West Princes Street Quietway.
All we want for Christmas is…for you to keep sticking pins on the map!Remember, it’s never too late to comment on what you want to see improved in your area as part of the project. The project team checks in regularly to see what you’ve been saying.
